It's 2013 and time to set goals for the new year. Recently I discovered that I'll be transitioning out of a product management position I've had for quite while, so it adds new zest to the planning process this year. It's a bit scary, but I've gone through this before and come out on the other side, so I have a sense of what's ahead. I'm also sensing that the time is right to move on to another venture, so there's more than a little natural rhythm pushing in that direction.
I also continue to pursue my writing and am well on my way to finishing my second novel. I'm quite enthusiastic about this project and am confident that I'll have the completed and edited manuscript to market later this year. I've also dusted off a non-fiction project concerning what it takes to build a successful consulting startup. I had my own successful consulting company during the 90s and resuming that line of work is one of the possibilities for the year ahead. We'll see.
So that's what lies ahead for me in 2013. I'll be working on my goal setting and various projects, not to mention figuring out my next career moves and my intent will be to write about that as it proceeds.
Do you put together plans on a yearly or other basis? Do you have any particular tips about planning approaches that work for you?
