I've been meaning to add a couple more picture from my trip to Malta. On one afternoon, the weather was perfect and I had a chance to take a bus ride for about 20 minutes enroute to the Sliema Ferries. From their, I took a harbor cruise for two hours. We saw about 8 different cities that were adjacent to the two major harbors in Malta, including the Great Harbor. Here is a picture of the kind of boat that we were on:
Highlights of the cruise included excellent views of the Maltese capital city Valletta, which looks like this from the water:
As you can see, the day was perfect. On the deck of the boat, it was plenty warm, so I was grateful that we had a roof overhead where I was sitting. Most of Malta that I saw on this trip looks like a fortress from the water. It has been invaded many times over the years, hence the barricades look and feel. Here is an example:
After the cruise, it was time to return to my hotel. I took the bus again and was dropped at one of the more picturesque spots, St. Julien's Bay, which looks like this late in the day (and is also very pretty when lit up at night).
From here, it was a pleasant quarter mile walk back to my hotel, over old streets and cobblestone. That's all for now.
