I've spent my spare time during the week getting ready for the Muse and the Marketplace writers conference, taking place this weekend in downtown Boston and sponsored by the local writing group Grub Street.
There's lots of sessions on topics related to the craft of writing, working with agents, promotion and much more. There will also be interactive sessions where writers can read for an audience or have their work read by a professional actor. Many agents, editors and published writers will attend, so it should also be an excellent networking event.
With that in mind, I went on line to FedEx Office (formerly FedEx Kinko's), designed a writer's business card online and had them delivered to my in-box earlier this week. In my daytime work, I go to trade shows a lot and usually hand out bushels of business cards, so having my "writer / blogger" cards in tow should help me get more out of the event.
I'll be getting up bright and early to attend and will plan to blog about the conference in my next post.
By the way, there's an event called Blogmania going on today and many bloggers are offering giveaways. One of my favorite bloggers Pat Bertram is participating, so if you want to find out more about Blogmania and the various giveaways, you can go to Bertram's Blog.
